A SEVA Graduate’s Journey to Confidence and Community
The journey to becoming a voice artist often begins in the most unexpected ways. For one graduate of the Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP), it started not in a studio, but in front of a camera as a content creator simply sharing everyday moments online.
Already active as a YouTuber, she regularly created videos about her daily life. One day, while filming a simple baking video, fellow content creators noticed something unique about her: her voice. Several people commented on how pleasant it sounded and even asked if she was a radio DJ. Others suggested that she should try voice acting or voice-over work because of her natural speaking style and accent.
At first, she brushed the idea aside.
“I didn’t think I had the ability to do voiceovers,” she recalled. The thought of entering the voice acting industry seemed intimidating and far beyond her comfort zone. But encouragement from someone close to her planted a seed of curiosity. Eventually, she decided to take a chance and enroll in the Certified Voice Artist Program.
A Challenging but Rewarding Beginning
Like many new students, her first few days in the program were overwhelming. The classes were intensive, and the assignments began almost immediately. Adjusting to an online learning environment and learning the fundamentals of voice acting at the same time proved challenging.
“There was a lot of homework already,” she shared. “It felt overwhelming at first.”
However, as the days went by, things began to change. What once felt intimidating gradually became exciting. The lessons became more engaging, and the unfamiliar environment slowly turned into a supportive space where she could grow.
More Than a Training Program
What she discovered was that the Certified Voice Artist Program was not just about learning how to perform voiceovers or improve vocal techniques. It was also about personal development and community.
Through the program, she found something she hadn’t expected: a family.
Her batchmates quickly became more than classmates. They became friends, supporters, and sources of motivation. Together, they shared experiences, encouraged one another, and celebrated each other’s growth throughout the program.
“The people I met here became my family,” she said. “From the beginning, we had the chance to connect, talk, and truly get to know each other.”
Learning to Believe in Herself
One of the most powerful lessons she gained from the program was confidence. Before joining CVAP, she often doubted her abilities and hesitated to express herself. But with the guidance of mentors and the encouragement of her peers, she learned to embrace her voice—not just literally, but also figuratively.
The program taught her that voice artistry is not just about talent; it’s also about character. It emphasizes generosity, collaboration, and using one’s abilities to uplift others.
“You learn not only how to find your voice,” she explained, “but also how to become a better human being.”
She also shared her deep gratitude to the mentors who guided their batch, including Sir Pocholo Gonzales, Mr. Jeffrey Perry, Ms. Nikki, and Sir Richard Abalos, whose dedication and mentorship played a vital role in their development.
A Journey Filled with Sacrifice
Her journey was not without sacrifices. Because of time differences and scheduling challenges, she had to adjust her daily routine significantly. For nearly a month, she lived on Philippine time, often staying awake late at night to attend sessions and complete assignments.
“I became very nocturnal,” she joked. “My schedule was completely reversed.”
But despite the sleepless nights and adjustments, she never regretted the experience. Every sacrifice felt worthwhile as she continued to grow both as a voice artist and as an individual.
Gratitude and Growth
Looking back, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people who encouraged her to take the first step. She especially thanked those who believed in her potential and pushed her to join the program, including mentors and friends who supported her journey.
For her, CVAP was more than just training—it was a life-changing experience.
“It’s not just a group,” she said emotionally. “It’s a family that helps you grow, helps you become confident, and encourages you to be the best version of yourself.”
Celebrating a New Beginning
As Certified Voice Artist Program Batch 3 celebrated their graduation, the moment marked not just the end of a course, but the beginning of a new chapter. Equipped with skills, confidence, and a supportive community, graduates like her are now ready to pursue their paths in the voice acting industry.
For her, the message is simple: opportunities often appear when you least expect them. The key is having the courage to say yes.
And sometimes, all it takes is one person believing in your voice for you to finally discover it yourself.
