Axel Valerian’s Journey with the Certified Voice Artist Program
For many aspiring voice artists, the journey begins with curiosity and a dream. For Axel Valerian, also known as the Approach of Voice History, the journey with the Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP) became a transformative experience that reshaped not only his voice but also his confidence, perspective, and sense of purpose.
Reflecting on his journey, Valerian describes how unexpected it felt to record a testimonial for the program. Standing before the same background he used when filming his introduction video, he took a moment to reflect on how far he had come since the beginning of the program. What started as a step into an unfamiliar field eventually became a meaningful turning point in his personal and professional growth.
Beginning as a Blank Canvas
Before joining the Certified Voice Artist Program, Valerian considered himself a “blank canvas” in the world of voice artistry. He had little experience, limited knowledge of the craft, and only a basic understanding of what voice acting and voice-over work truly involved.
Like many beginners, he initially believed that the program would simply consist of lectures or discussions led by mentors about voice artistry. He expected a straightforward learning environment where participants would attend sessions, absorb information, and then move forward independently.
However, he soon discovered that CVAP offered far more than just technical lessons.
Beyond Training: A Community of Voices
According to Valerian, the training sessions in the program did include important topics related to voice artistry. Participants learned how to improve vocal performance, market themselves as voice talents, and develop the necessary skills to become effective voice artists.
Yet he emphasizes that these discussions represented only a small portion of what the program truly provided.
What made the experience remarkable for him was the sense of belonging and community that the program fostered among its participants. CVAP, he explains, is more than a training program—it is a family of aspiring and professional voice artists united by a common purpose.
Participants from different backgrounds, professions, and walks of life came together with one shared goal: to use their voices to inspire, communicate, and make a difference.
Valerian describes how the mentors and organizers treated every participant with respect and encouragement, regardless of their level of experience. This inclusive environment allowed participants to feel comfortable, confident, and motivated to grow.
Learning the Values of a Voice Artist
For Valerian, the most valuable lessons he gained from CVAP were not limited to vocal techniques or industry knowledge. Instead, the program emphasized the principles, values, and mindset of a voice artist.
These values included confidence, authenticity, responsibility, and the understanding that every voice has the potential to influence others.
He recalls that one of the most powerful experiences in the program was the opportunity to learn directly from Pocholo De Leon Gonzales, widely known as the Voicemaster of the Philippines.
Listening to Gonzales share his wisdom and insights left a lasting impact on him. One particular message resonated deeply with Valerian:
“The best time to believe in yourself is the time when nobody else believes in you. And the best time to act is now.”
These words became a guiding principle that he continues to carry with him as he moves forward in his journey.
Gratitude to the People Behind the Program
Valerian expresses deep gratitude to the individuals who helped shape his experience in the Certified Voice Artist Program.
He first acknowledges the program itself for providing him with an opportunity to grow—not only as a voice artist but also as a member of a supportive creative community.
He also extends his appreciation to Pocholo De Leon Gonzales for the invaluable lessons and mentorship that inspired him to believe in his potential.
Additionally, he recognizes Miss Nikki Smero for her kindness and dedication in making the participants’ journey memorable and meaningful.
He also expresses gratitude to Sir Jeff and Sir Rich, whose role as hosts helped create an engaging and welcoming atmosphere for the participants, even in a virtual setting.
Finally, he gives special thanks to Papa Lim Ferralino, whose generosity and support made it possible for him to become one of the program’s scholars. Valerian describes this opportunity as a once-in-a-lifetime chance that opened doors for him to pursue his dream of becoming a voice artist.
A Promise to Give Back
Receiving such support has inspired Valerian to make a promise of his own. In the future, he hopes to help other aspiring voice artists pursue their dreams, just as others helped him along the way.
He recognizes that Papa Lim Ferralino served as a bridge that allowed him to step closer to his goal. In return, Valerian hopes to become a bridge for others as well.
A Life Transformed
Looking back on his journey, Valerian acknowledges the many changes the program has brought into his life. From the way he speaks and presents himself to the confidence he now carries, the influence of CVAP is evident.
Beyond skills and training, the program gave him something even more valuable—a strong sense of camaraderie and belonging.
For Axel Valerian, the Certified Voice Artist Program was not merely a course. It was a transformational experience that helped turn a blank canvas into a developing masterpiece.
And as he continues his journey, he remains proud and grateful to be part of the CVAP family.
