A Journey of Grace, Growth, and Finding Her Voice: Ruby’s CVAP Story

Sometimes, the right opportunity doesn’t come at the perfect time—but it always finds its way back when it’s meant to. For Ruby of CVAP Batch 15 BR2, her journey into voice acting was shaped not only by passion, but by patience, understanding, and community.

Ruby originally planned to join Batch 10 of the Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP). However, life had other plans. During that time, she was going through a difficult pregnancy and knew she needed to prioritize her health. Unsure of what to do, she reached out to Sir Pocholo Gonzalez—and what she received in return left a lasting impression.

Instead of pressure or limitation, she was met with compassion and flexibility. She was encouraged to listen to recorded Zoom sessions and reassured that she could officially join when she was ready. For Ruby, this simple act of accommodation spoke volumes. It wasn’t just professionalism—it was humanity.

A Thoughtfully Designed Learning Experience

When Ruby finally joined CVAP Batch 15, she quickly discovered that the program was carefully structured and intentionally designed. The Certified Voice Artist Program runs across four Saturdays, with full-day sessions starting at 9 a.m. and a break in between. Each session featured different trainers, offering fresh perspectives and diverse expertise, while the same hosts anchored the program every week.

The hosts stood out for their energy, motivation, and consistency. Their lively presence helped maintain momentum throughout the long sessions, making learning both engaging and enjoyable. According to Ruby, the program flow was creative, well-thought-out, and filled with practical, “meaty” information—especially from the mentors who generously shared not only techniques, but personal experiences from the industry.

A Community That Lifts You Up

Beyond the lessons and assignments, what truly touched Ruby was the culture of positivity within CVAP. From mentors and hosts to fellow “voice mates,” the environment was encouraging, supportive, and refreshingly free of competition.

Everyone was approachable. Everyone was willing to help. Questions were welcomed, and guidance was always available. For Ruby, this sense of community transformed the learning experience—it felt safe, motivating, and genuinely uplifting.

Unlearning and Rediscovering Her Voice

Coming from a theater background, Ruby initially thought voice acting would come easily. She soon realized it was an entirely different discipline—one that required precision, technical skill, and deep emotional awareness.

Through assignments and recordings, she discovered something surprising about herself. While people often complimented her English-speaking voice, she noticed that her English delivery sounded monotonous on playback. In contrast, her Tagalog recordings carried more emotion, clarity, and expression. This level of self-awareness, she shared, was something she would not have discovered without CVAP.

With guidance from mentors, she learned about vocal power, delivery, technical control, and emotional range—lessons that reshaped how she understood her own voice.

Gratitude and a Clear Sign Forward

Now proudly part of Batch 15 BR2, Ruby speaks with deep gratitude for the journey she took and the people she met along the way. CVAP was not just a class—it was an experience that helped her grow, reflect, and rediscover herself as an artist.

Her message to anyone watching her testimonial is clear and heartfelt:
If you’re here because you’re curious, unsure, or searching for a sign—this is it. Enroll. Take the class. Show up for yourself.

Sometimes, all it takes is one “yes” to change everything.
