Discovering Voice and Life Lessons: Makoy’s CVAP Batch 4 Experience

Makoy’s CVAP Batch 4 Experience

In today’s world, technology has made it possible to connect with others even when physical interaction is limited. For many aspiring voice artists, this has opened doors to learning and growth, especially during the pandemic. One such opportunity is the Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP), an online workshop focused on voice acting, dubbing, and voiceover skills, collectively known as voice artistry.

For Makoy, also known as Voicemark, being part of CVAP Batch 4 was a truly transformative experience. Thanks to a generous scholarship provided by the Philippines’ premier voice master, Pocholo de Leon Gonzales, he was able to participate in the program at no cost—an opportunity he describes as a tremendous blessing.

The training spanned four consecutive Saturdays via Zoom, and during this time, Makoy gained more than technical skills in voice artistry. He learned valuable life lessons and developed connections that went beyond the virtual classroom. The sessions offered a balance of guidance, mentorship, and camaraderie that left a lasting impression.

Makoy expressed his gratitude to Sir Pocholo, affectionately called Sir Choi, for sharing his expertise and for providing participants with an inspiring platform during such a challenging period. The program not only allowed trainees to focus on their craft but also offered a welcome mental escape from the stress and uncertainties brought about by COVID-19.

Beyond the mentorship of Sir Pocholo, Makoy also acknowledged the contributions of the CVAP team, including Nikki, Sir Jeff, and Sir Richard, as well as past CVAP graduates who shared their experiences. Their guidance and encouragement helped him navigate the program’s challenges and inspired him to maximize his potential.

A special highlight for Makoy was the presence of Kathleen Sone during Recital Day. Her humility and approachable nature left a lasting impression on him, showing that even accomplished voice artists remain grounded and relatable.

Makoy also cherished the friendships he formed throughout the program. From his Breakout Room groupmates in BR No. 9 to fellow voice mates, he fondly remembers the conversations, laughter, and shared late-night practice sessions. These interactions strengthened the sense of community and made learning an enjoyable and supportive experience.

Reflecting on his CVAP journey, Makoy shared that the program taught him lessons far beyond voice artistry. The skills, experiences, and connections he gained are treasures he will carry for a lifetime.

For those interested in joining, he encourages aspiring voice artists to enroll in CVAP Batch 5, which was scheduled to start in January 2021. He assures prospective participants that the program will equip them with skills applicable not only to voice acting but also to life itself.

As Makoy concludes his testimonial, he emphasizes that CVAP is more than a workshop—it is a place of learning, personal growth, and lasting friendships. Through this experience, he discovered the power of his voice, the value of collaboration, and the joy of pursuing one’s passion with others who share the same dreams.
