CVAP Training Day 4: Squid Game

Day 4 was a blast! I really had fun with our dubbing activity. It’s like “the rush of life” as what Il-nam said in Squid Game. The dubbing really made my day. At first, I was scared because I hadn’t experience dubbing for a very long time. The last time I did one was back in college where I portrayed as Dory in Finding Nemo. That was the first ‘Aha!’ moment for me and I’m happy to experience the same feeling and discovery this Day 4.

More than the activity, I was able to lead our team to have a more organized activity than the previous we had. I don’t usually volunteer whenever there are activities in my usual working life, but I felt stepping up in this program. I am ecstatic after our turn because I saw our development as individuals and as a team. We are more comfortable with each other as we prepare, more open, and people are much proactive than before. I totally enjoyed it! Plus, I could say that we also enjoyed the clip we chose. I saw this Filipino animated film, Hayop ka!, which was dubbed by Filipino actors like Angelica Panganiban, Sam Milby, and Robin Padilla as main characters. It was different from the other teams as our presentation is in the comedy and animated side and I think not all the people in the program knew about this film because it was boycotted when it was released in Netflix last year.

Aside from the dubbing activity, I also appreciate the studio tour that was showed. I always dream of having my own working space with a recording studio even before I joined CVAP. As I watched the video, I imagined myself recording. It feels challenging and exciting!

Maybe you are thinking why I titled this blog, Squid Game. If you haven’t watched it yet, I
recommend watching it. Well, Squid Game was made because the founder would like to experience the rush of life even if it cost them to lose lives. The people participating in the game desperately bet on their lives for money. Every Saturday, I experience the rush of life, the difference is I do not get killed. And for the whole program instead of looking for money as a price, I interestingly lose my pursuit of money. This program showed a new perspective for me as I continuously search for my lost self this year. I still want to succeed in life but I do not attach myself to material things anymore. I pursue learning, expression, loving, and greatness as a person. I learned to have fun and be comfortable with my natural self. To accept the things I can do and acknowledge the things I like.

We don’t really experience the rush of life in our daily routine. We experience it when we freely express ourselves and get out of our comfort zones. We experience it when we let ourselves do what our authentic self should do. In Tagalog, kapag nagpapakatao ka. So as I end this Day 4 blog and the whole program, I commit to doing more of what my authentic self would like to do and to share. To stop chasing material things. Instead, I will focus on loving and truly living life. Then I knew, God would bless me more than everything I desire.
