Havi’s Journey Through CVAP: From Learner to Certified Voice Artist

Havi, a participant of CVAP Batch 9, shares his heartfelt testimonial as he prepares to become a certified voice artist. His experience highlights not only the technical skills he gained but also the profound personal lessons, memorable moments, and strong sense of community fostered by the program. One of the standout aspects of Havi’s journey was the sense of community within CVAP. From the online welcome party to interactions with fellow participants and experienced voice artists (CDAs), Havi found the supportive network to be the most rewarding part of the program. The program nurtured connections that went beyond learning, creating a family-like environment for all participants. Havi emphasizes the importance of grounding one’s passion in principles and humility. Lessons from the "voice master" reinforced that success in voice acting comes not just from monetary gain but from a strong ethical and professional foundation. According to Havi, these life lessons make CVAP a highly recommended program not only for aspiring voice artists but also for personal growth. A core takeaway for Havi was the mantra: “be voices, don’t copy voices.” He learned that embodying a character fully—rather than imitating—was essential for all voice-over work, from commercials to dubbing. He also stresses the importance of continuous practice, even when no one is watching, to ensure ongoing professional growth. Havi fondly recalls his favorite assignments, including creating commercials, building a website, and personal branding exercises. However, his favorite was “character voices,” where he recreated beloved characters from his childhood such as Stitch, Squidward, and Stewie. Havi found immense joy in playing roles he could not physically perform. A particularly memorable breakout room activity involved a live dubbing session, where Havi stepped in as a female character, creating laughter and bonding moments that made the program unforgettable.
Havi was deeply inspired by a principle shared by Sir Choi: “Everyone's responsibility is to be an inspiration to others.” This message resonated with him, especially in the context of current global challenges, highlighting the importance of using one’s skills to uplift and motivate others. Havi expresses heartfelt gratitude to CVAP Batch 9, hosts Sir Rich and Sir Jeff, and Sir Pocholo De Leon Gonzalez, the voice master, for initiating the program and providing a life-changing experience. He acknowledges the program’s role in shaping hundreds of graduates and giving them the tools to become part of the “man behind a thousand voices.” Havi’s journey through CVAP showcases how the program goes beyond technical training. It cultivates skills, character, humility, and inspiration, providing aspiring voice artists with the knowledge, mentorship, and confidence to succeed professionally while positively impacting others.
