Rediscovering the Artist Within: A CVAP Journey
Sometimes, life has a way of bringing us back to who we truly are—often in the most unexpected moments. For Vanessa Mejales, her journey in the Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP) became a powerful reminder that passion never fades; it simply waits to be rediscovered.
Vanessa begins her story by looking back at a meaningful achievement from her past. During her high school years, she was actively involved in school programs—singing, dancing, and performing whenever given the opportunity. Her passion and dedication eventually led her to receive the “Artist of the Year” award when she graduated in 2011. It was a moment of pride she never expected, but one that reflected her love for creative expression.
However, as the years passed, life took a different direction. Like many people, Vanessa focused on other interests and responsibilities, setting aside that artistic side of herself. Before joining CVAP, her primary focus was sewing, and voice acting was never something she imagined pursuing. It seemed like a completely different world—one she never thought she would be part of.
Everything changed when she discovered the Certified Voice Artist Program. Through this experience, Vanessa realized that there was still so much more she could explore and achieve. CVAP opened a new door for her—one that led back to her creative roots, but in a fresh and exciting way. It introduced her to the art of voice acting and helped her see that her potential extended far beyond what she initially believed.
What made the experience even more meaningful was the environment within the program. Vanessa describes CVAP as a space filled with inspiring stories, genuine connections, and a strong sense of community. Despite coming from different places and not knowing each other at the beginning, participants quickly formed bonds that felt like family. This supportive atmosphere made learning not only effective but also deeply enjoyable.
Through the program, Vanessa gained valuable knowledge and skills that she knows she can apply not just in voice acting, but in life as well. More importantly, she regained confidence in herself and in her abilities. After ten years, she found herself once again embracing the title of “artist”—this time as a Certified Voice Artist. It was a full-circle moment that symbolized growth, rediscovery, and courage.
Although she acknowledges that her journey in the industry is just beginning, Vanessa feels reassured knowing that she is not alone. With the guidance of mentors and the support of her CVAP family, she is ready to continue growing and exploring new opportunities.
Her story is a reminder that it’s never too late to rediscover your passion or to try something new. Sometimes, the artist within us just needs the right opportunity—and the right people—to come back to life.
