Your voice has a place in the industry. | CVAP9 | Day 2

It's Saturday once again, and that means it's CVAP Day!

The second day of the program is once again filled with inspirational words shared by the guest speaker, the mentors, and the VoiceMaster. More interestingly, we were also taught the technicalities in voice artistry. What you will read next are some of my takeaways from the session.

On mind setting...

Time. Talent. Treasure. These words were written in my notebook which I believe is a good self-reminder that we need to take Time and grab opportunities to hone our Talents so that we can reap the Treasure from our God-given gifts. The word "treasure" here does not only equate to monetary harvest that fills our pockets and bank accounts. Treasure refers to the growing passion that we have for our talents that fills our lives with more value. Here in CVAP, we are always taught that money should not be the main driving force in doing voice artistry.

On technicalities...

On the technical aspect, a lecture was given on voice characterization. Since voice artists cannot be seen, unlike TV and movie actors, it is essential that our voice must be believable when heard. Emotions must be felt by the audience, therefore, voice character must be projected.

There were elements of voice characterization that were explained and demonstrated. These are helpful for me and for other aspiring voice artists because it helps me explore on the kinds of voices that I can do. So interesting!

On finding my niche...

The CVAP gives us a lot of tasks to try out so that we, aspiring voice artists, can explore our vocal capabilities. Another goal of these activities is for us to find our niche...to recognize the kind of voice we have...and to discover the voice artistry category to which we belong.

It is encouraging to hear from the mentors that whatever kind of voice we have, there will always be a place for us in the industry, especially now that natural delivery is what's sought after by clients for different projects. Hence, we must find our niche and enhance it...master it.
