Day 3 CVAP Experience

 September 18, 2021 - Saturday

To start off the day, the hosts called out for participants to introduce myself, and lucky for me, I was chosen. I introduced myself and spoke about how I felt being in CVAP. Then I had to say the line “mahal kita” in 3 character voices. I got scared but did my best as I did the task in my child voice, normal voice, and elderly voice.

We also had Papa Lem as a speaker and I learned that:
  1. Do what you love and love what you do
  2. Use your voice to make other people happy
  3. Trust the process
  4. Be visible and get exposure
  5. Engage with your audience

We also had Mr. Danny Mandia as a guest speaker and I loved how he talked about the industry with truth and honesty. His experience taught me that it is important to have people that are loyal and who support you.

For the program proper, we learned that practice makes perfect. You can practice by:
  • Recording yourself and listening to it. This way, you can give yourself comments and see how you sound to others.
  • Doing tongue twisters. Tongue twisters will help you improve your annunciation and focus. Annunciation is important as a voice artist and focusing on what you are reading will ensure that you do not make mistakes.

I also learned that no matter how scared you are, start your journey. It is within starting that will lead you to your success. I was also taught to take a leap of faith. Doing things without dwelling on your fear will get you started. The CVAP family also assured that they will give their 100% support to their Voice Artists which made me feel happy that I have a group of people that I can depend on.

To apply what we learned, we worked with our teammates as we pretended to be superheroes with a mission to solve a problem in our community. We answered the following questions
  • Who are you?
  • What is your mission or purpose?
  • What is your superpower?
  • What problem in society do you want to solve?
  • As a group, how can you solve this?

After we presented, the hosts gave comments. Most of the comments were to:
  • Pronounce words properly. This means to pronounce the “R” letter in English words properly.
  • Show emotions through what you are saying. Feel like you are in the situation your character is in and let your emotions lead your voice.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, see you in next week’s blog !!
